Rand Paul: “Over-The-Top Aggressive Foreign Policy” Isn't Conservative

Paul is due to give a foreign policy speech at the Heritage Foundation next week, where he “will discuss his vision of a foreign policy that respects the plain language of our Constitution, the legal powers of Congress and the proper duties of the Commander-in-Chief.”

“Senator Paul will map out a foreign policy vision in which America can better avoid never-ending conflict and protracted commitments,” according to Heritage’s copy.

What Stops A Bad Guy With A Gun?

According to the FBI, you are much more likely to be killed by hammer than the rifles that are proposed in the ban and nearly 59.8% of all shootings in America are actually suicides. Even if we just look at mass shootings, we can see that when there are individuals allowed to carry firearms the number of deaths goes down. The average number of people killed in mass shootings when stopped by police is 14.29. While the average number of people killed in a mass shooting when stopped by a civilian is 2.33.

No, Mr. Vice President. Cops Today Are Not 'Outgunned.'

IF ‘ASSAULT WEAPONS’ ARE BAD…WHY DOES DHS WANT TO BUY 7,000 OF THEM FOR ‘PERSONAL DEFENSE’?

Critics of such a ban on semi-automatic rifles are already arguing that the government is showing its hypocrisy by essentially saying they are good “personal defense” for them, but not for American citizens. When civilians own semi-automatic rifles, they somehow become “assault weapons.

BACKFIRE: Seattle Gun Buyback Turns Into Gun Show; Collectors Waved 'Wads of Cash' at Those in Line

While thousands of Seattle residents lined up for hours to trade their handguns, rifles and family heirlooms away in exchange for up to $200 in gift cards as part of the city's latest gun buyback program, gun collectors who have seen prices for assault rifles and firearms accessories almost triple since November took advantage of a huge opportunity.

Police stood in awe as gun enthusiasts and collectors waved wads of cash for the guns being held by those standing in line for the buyback program.

Study: Global Warming Less Extreme Than Feared

Uncertainties about the overall results of feedback mechanisms make it very difficult to predict just how much of the rise in Earth's mean surface temperature is due to manmade emissions. According to the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) the climate sensitivity to doubled atmospheric CO2 levels is probably between 2°C and 4.5°C, with the most probable being 3°C of warming.

In the Norwegian project, however, researchers have arrived at an estimate of 1.9°C as the most likely level of warming.

Most cashiers are killed on the job because of homicides, whereas a quarter of firefighter deaths are from truck accidents and the numbers have declined, apparently, after concerted efforts to convince these heroes to buckle their seatbelts.

Republicans in Virginia, other states seeking electoral college changes

In the vast majority of states, the presidential candidate who wins receives all of that state's electoral votes. The proposed changes would instead apportion electoral votes by congressional district, a setup far more favorable to Republicans. Under such a system in Virginia, for instance, President Obama would have claimed four of the state's 13 electoral votes in the 2012 election, rather than all of them.

Germany Repatriating Gold From NY, Paris 'In Case Of A Currency Crisis'

Germany's central bank announced Wednesday it will repatriate gold reserves held at the New York Fed and the Banque de France in order to have "the ability to exchange gold for foreign currency [...] within a short space of time." Officials at the Bundesbank indicated they have no intention of selling gold, but acknowledged the move is "preemptive" in case a "currency crisis" hits the European Monetary Union. While they tried to minimize the importance of the move at the Bundesbank, repatriating gold is a clear indication of public loss of confidence on foreign central banks and the integrity of the monetary union. Over the past few years, Venezuela, Libya, and Iran have also repatriated their gold holdings.

Why Americans will soon pay more to drive every mile

The financial lookouts who toil in America's transportation departments have been waving red flags for years that there wasn't enough money to keep the nation's 4 million miles of roads and bridges drivable. Now the federal government's top accountant has told Congress it should experiment with taxing drivers by the mile to make up billions of dollars in shortfalls. The debate isn't whether you'll pay more to drive in the future, but how you'll pay -- and how much.

Rand Paul Has A Far-Fetched Plan To Force Obama's Hand On The Debt Ceiling

The only real way to have leverage with the debt ceiling is to convince people that we are not going to default on our debt,” Paul said. “We could actually direct the President to pay our interest, make Social Security payments, pay soldier salaries, the basic functions that could keep government going. That way we take default off the table. They always scare us into raising the debt ceiling by saying that the stock markets will tank, everyone will go crazy if we default. I don’t think we should default — but I don’t think we should raise the debt ceiling either.

Not mentioned in the article is the fact that the 2031 number is based on the Social Security Trust Fund. In reality, Social Security is a pay-as-you-go system which has no money set aside. DEMS ON DEBT CEILING: NO CUTS, MORE TAXES

She [Nancy Pelosi] went so far as to say that she’d unilaterally raise the debt ceiling in violation of the Constitution if she were president.

Secret and Lies of the Bailout

It was all a lie one of the biggest and most elaborate falsehoods ever sold to the American people. We were told that the taxpayer was stepping in only temporarily, mind you to prop up the economy and save the world from financial catastrophe. What we actually ended up doing was the exact opposite: committing American taxpayers to permanent, blind support of an ungovernable, unregulatable, hyperconcentrated new financial system that exacerbates the greed and inequality that caused the crash, and forces Wall Street banks like Goldman Sachs and Citigroup to increase risk rather than reduce it. The result is one of those deals where one wrong decision early on blossoms into a lush nightmare of unintended consequences. We thought we were just letting a friend crash at the house for a few days; we ended up with a family of hillbillies who moved in forever, sleeping nine to a bed and building a meth lab on the front lawn.

Many of the GOP's staunchest fiscal conservatives voted for the agreement, including Sen. Tom Coburn of Oklahoma and Sen. Jeff Sessions of Alabama, the ranking Republican on the Senate Budget Committee.

FISCAL CLIFF DEAL: $1 IN SPENDING CUTS FOR EVERY $41 IN TAX INCREASES

According to the Congressional Budget Office, the last-minute fiscal cliff deal reached by congressional leaders and President Barack Obama cuts only $15 billion in spending while increasing tax revenues by $620 billion--a 41:1 ratio of tax increases to spending cuts.

When Presidents Ronald Reagan and George H.W. Bush increased taxes in return for spending cuts--cuts that never ultimately came--they did so at ratios of 1:3 and 1:2.
